Arbitration & ADR
We have represented clients in several successful commercial arbitrations, typically facing leading corporate law firms. Our clients have won or settled disputes of all sizes, ranging from small disputes to disputes involving several million US dollars. Our lawyers also have experience as arbitrators before multiple arbitral institutions, including the ICC, the Lagos Court of Arbitration and in ad hoc procedures.
Selected representative matters as Counsel or Arbitrator:
We represented a claimant corporation against a State-Owned Entity that defaulted on its payment obligations under a power purchase agreement. We immediately obtained urgent interim relief against the SOE. After a full hearing in arbitration, the tribunal awarded our client approximately USD 2.5 million, which included breach of contract damages, pre-award interest and the arbitration costs.

We represent a Nigerian development bank in defending three related arbitration claims exceeding NGN1.4 Billion. Our opening submissions at the initiation of the proceedings exposed material weaknesses in the claims. Following our client’s counter-claim of NGN 1.01 Billion, the claimants are exploring an amicable settlement of the dispute.
